Program Overview
The broad objective of the new Sports, Events, and Tourism Marketing (SETM) program is to improve substantive, sectoral, and applied competences of our graduates in the field of marketing of the sports, events, and tourism industries. By adopting an integrated approach, the SETM program aims to provide students the knowledge and skill sets to be successful in the growing workforce of the sports, events, and tourism sector.

This program offers a variety of professional organizations such as IAAM, ISES, MPI, IAAPA as well as student clubs for students to participate in.
- Sport is the sixth largest industry in the United States, generating $650 billion annually and spending $27.8 billion for sports advertising. The expected global sports industry growth is $21 billion in five years.
- Annual spending for special events worldwide is estimated at $500 billion.
- The tourism industry contributes more than $812.9 billion annually to the nation’s economy and generates $124 billion in tax revenue, and is the world’s largest industry. One out of every nine New Jersey workers has a job in tourism with a total of 470,000 direct and indirect jobs, accounting for 11.4% of total employment and approximately $16 billion in wages and salaries.
- The projected growth rate of employment in the events, sports and entertainment sector is 44% according to the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics.
