Dr. Jack Samuels is the longest running faculty member in the world associated with the Walt Disney College Programs. He has been honored with the title "Honorary Citizen" of Walt Disney World by the Disney Company. He is the creator and founder of the Disney International Program at Montclair State University and the U.S. program for Montclair State Students. Dr. Samuels publishes regularly in the International Theme Park Trade Magazine Park World, and is the most prolific academic in history in the Amusement Park and Attractions Press having authored well over 200 articles over a 25 year period in subjects ranging from marketing, to food services, to merchandising and safety management. His Events Management course is the oldest one of its kind in the world and he has been teaching it since 1979. It is still a course that is extremely popular with our students.
He conducts research in a variety of areas including attitudes toward safety in leisure facilities, merchandising, marketing, feasibility studies and events management and marketing. He has served as an expert witness in hundreds of recreation, hospitality and entertainment and sports related accidents and is particularly well versed on crowd management. Dr. Samuels prides himself on helping businesses in the Leisure, Entertainment, Sports, Travel and Tourism industries and also in helping students find jobs. His students have been amongst some of MSU's most successful.
Dr. Samuels, holds four degrees including three in various aspects of tourism and leisure management and marketing from SUNY Cortland and Temple University and an M.B.A. in Marketing from Montclair State University. He coordinates the SBUS program in Leisure Industries and Tourism and is the faculty coordinator of our U.S. Disney College Program.
