Dr. Yawei Wang is the Chair in the Department of Marketing at Montclair State University, New Jersey. She holds a Ph.D. in Recreation & Tourism from Clemson University, South Carolina. Prior to joining Montclair State University in 2006, she worked on the Gerontology Research Interdisciplinary Team in the College of Health Education & Human Development at Clemson. Her research focuses on travel and tourism - with an emphasis on mature tourism and aging issues. She hasdeveloped some research topics on sports, accessible tourism and medical tourism since she joined MSU. Dr. Wang has more than a dozen of research articles published in academic journals and books, such as Journal of Quality Assurance in Hospitality & Tourism, World Leisure Journal, Annual in Therapeutic Recreation, International Journal of Information Systems in the Service Sector, Tourism Review International, andAccessible Tourism: Concepts and Issues.
Dr. Wang has presented her research in many international and national conferences, such as the annual conference of Society for Marketing Advances (SMA), the annual Northeastern Recreation Research (NERR) Symposium, the conference of National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), and the annual conference of International Council on Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Education (I-CHRIE). Dr. Wang has served as an Associate Editor of the Annual in Therapeutic Recreation for three years, and is currently a guest co-editor of World Leisure Journal. Dr. Wang’s teaching interests include introduction to marketing, introduction to tourism, behavioral concepts in leisure & tourism, and research methods in tourism. She has been invited to teach Tourism Marketing as a Visiting Professor at the College of Finance in Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai, China since 2008.
