Monty Cerf is a Managing Director and Investment Representative in the Americas for the Wealth and Investment Management division of Barclays. Mr. Cerf joined the organization in September 2008, as part of Barclays acquisition of Lehman Brothers Private Investment Management (PIM) business in the Americas.
Mr. Cerf has 28 years of experience working in finance, 21 of which were in investment and merchant banking. He worked in capital markets throughout the world, particularly in alternative assets where he headed top ranked private equity placement groups at both JPMorgan and Bear Stearns. He has also worked in merchant banking at JP Morgan as well as at his own firm.
Mr. Cerf has served as a member on the Investment Committee of the State of New Jersey Investment Council overseeing its $75 billion pension portfolio. He is currently a member on the MSU School of Business Board of Advisors and occasionally lecturers at MSU. He also serves as a board member on the Darrow Foundation. Previously, Mr. Cerf served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Africa. He received his BA in Government, with High Honors, from Cornell University, an MS from the London School of Economics and an MBA from Yale University.
