Change or add an MBA concentration

You may change or add a concentration in your MBA program at any time before filing for Final Audit. To do so, download and complete a Change of Concentration form, and submit it to the MBA Office.  It will be reviewed and sent to the Graduate School.

If you have any questions about how this might affect your degree requirements, or would like to discuss the various concentration options, please call the MBA Office, at 973-655-4306, to set up an advising appointment.

Transfer credits

You may transfer up to 6 credits (semester hours) from another AACSB-accredited School of Business from the following Foundation courses in the new MBA program:

To obtain permission to take a course at another institution and transfer the credits into the MBA program, you must:

  • Provide a catalog description of the course(s) you wish to take, which must be similar to the MSU course(s) offered at MSU, to the MBA Office, along with
  • an Application to Take a Course at Another Institution and Transfer the Credits.

You will not be given retroactive approval for transfer credits.

Sit for a challenge exam

You may satisfy an academic requirement by sitting for a challenge examination. The faculty members set the conditions under which a student may sit for a challenge exam, which is an option only in these courses in thenew MBA program:

If an MBA faculty member agrees to administer a challenge exam, you need to:

  • Submit the challenge exam fee of $125 to the Bursar's Office. You will receive two copies of a receipt for the payment: retain one for your own records.
  • Present the other receipt copy to the faculty member. The faculty member may not administer a challenge exam without being given a Bursar's receipt.

If you have successfully passed a challenge exam, your MBA program worksheet will be revised to reduce your degree requirements.  If you do not pass the challenge exam, you will have to successfully complete that course.
