Who We Are
The Accounting Society is an SGA Class III organization consisting of ambitious, disciplined, and hardworking future accounting professionals. We serve as a student extension of the Department of Accounting & Finance and take on the responsibility of helping out members who are interested in pursuing a career in the accounting profession, looking for extra classroom academic guidance, or interested in unique volunteer opportunities. All of this is done yearly through a series of networking opportunities and professional career meetings, free tutoring, and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA.)
Our Accounting Society has been able to achieve excellent career placement, maintain top academic standards, and remain a big contributor to the community. Join today and be part of a network of motivated students looking to become leaders in the profession.
Notable Accounting Society Event
Accounting Society Meetings are scheduled during the semester. They provide valuable information and resources to students about a wide range of accounting related topics, presented by speakers in the accounting profession.
Annual Spring Accounting Reception is an event to network and give your resume to Human Resource representatives from accounting firms which range from large, medium and small. This presents the opportunity to ask about full-time and part-time positions, as well as seasonal internships. The event also gives students the chance to get information about specific firms, and to ask any questions about the profession.
Tutoring Program is run through the Department of Accounting & Finance. Students are allowed the opportunity to become a tutor or take advantage of this free service, ask questions, work on homework and get the help they need from a student who has had their class.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance is a program that enables students to prepare tax returns for seniors and low income taxpayers, which will enhance your resume.
