The Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the world’s largest HR professional society, representing 285,000 members in more than 165 countries. The SHRM Student Chapter at Montclair State University is here to provide students with the opportunity to gain knowledge and insight into the effective management of human capital in the field of Human Resource Management through affiliation with the Gateway Chapter, Jersey City, NJ and the SHRM organization.
What We Do
We want to present students with ample opportunities to meet with potential employers, as well as promote the exchange of work-related experience of established business professionals with the theoretical academic perspectives of student and faculty members through open forums and information exchanges. This Chapter is here to encourage the acquisition, growth and continuation of our respective careers in human resource management through expanded knowledge, camaraderie, respect and mutual support among chapter members and through our affiliation with SHRM and our sponsoring chapter.
Joining SHRM will prepare students for future growth and continuation of respective careers in human resource management and offer a pool of human resource management leaders for perpetuation of the Chapter and of SHRM.
The SHRM Student Chapter at Montclair State University is open to all majors in addition to students who are interested in enhancing their talents and credentials through interactive workshops and events. The SHRM Student Chapter at Montclair State University is a recent addition to the School of Business clubs, and we are looking to build our organization. We provide each member the opportunity to participate as an E-board member as well as our various committee positions such as Social Media Chair and Student Relations. As a new and growing club, we are open to new ideas from all members as everyone’s role is important.
